New York → Prague: New Plays 2026
US Playwrights’ Residency Comes to Peškovka
October 29 & 31 | Peškovka Hall
The final days of October at Peškovka will belong to contemporary American playwriting and a trio of staged readings.
The first to take the stage will be renowned playwright, translator, and director Edward Einhorn with his latest play, Alma Baya. Three women find themselves stranded on an inhospitable planet, but there is one crucial catch: only two of them can survive.
This will be followed by two plays selected from works submitted as part of a New York open call organized in cooperation with Švandovo divadlo, the production platform The Play Company through its Artist Residency Program, and Venturous Theater Fund.
The surrealist comedy Pennies by South Korean playwright and translator Hansol Jung takes us into a motel room that is not so easy to leave – but where entering other people’s memories is suspiciously easy.
The evening will conclude with Escapegoat by New York playwright May Treuhaft-Ali. An ecological tragicomedy about turtles, goats, and the thin line between helping and violence disguised as rescue.
