She is a musician's daughter, he is a chancellor's son. She is promised to a private secretary, he's supposed to marry the most powerful woman in the princedom. But she wants him and he wants her. This is a threat to everybody else's plans. Love of two teenagers, Luisa and Ferdinand, against the world of intrigues and cynical pragmatism of those who pull the strings.
The story of German classical writer, Friedrich Schiller, about what happens when two lovers become puppets. In the hands of the powerful. In the hands of love. About seeking heaven on Earth. And that a puppet in flames can cause the whole theatre to burn down.
The attempt of the twenty-five year old author to write a "theatrical hit" was a success. Even nowadays Intrique and love (1784) belongs to the most significant works of German classic literature and still provokes to new adaptations. Martin Sládeček translated this play especially for Švandovo Theatre. Directed by Martin Františák and portrayed by Švandovo Theatre Ensemble the play comes to life using traditional puppets and live music.
Kindly note that smoking and explosive effects are used during the show.
